Catch Up Time

Posted by on May 29, 2012

We’ve been quite busy trying to get items off our “To Do List” to do much blogging and now we are heading north to get out of FL before the June 1st date due to our hurricane coverage.   I think we had managed to get our list down from 189 items to 115 and then had to beat feet out of Stuart.  (Unfortunately, a few more new items have been added since.)

Thankfully Conrad has been with us these past 3 weeks helping to get stuff done and helping to get us moving north.  He’s been a huge asset to us and is very patient with me as he explains the what and why’s.

We traveled from Stuart up the ICW to Ft. Pierce and then outside to Cape Canaveral.  Thankfully this trip went so much smoother than our trip down in February.  In Canaveral we were hauled and a bow thruster installed and some bottom work done.  We had to sit tight over the Memorial Weekend due to Tropical Storm Beryl.

Monday, we headed out on the ICW to Daytona and then today heading to St. Augustine via the ICW.  Still traveling inside due to sea states from Beryl.  We hit a squall prior to Ponce Inlet with quite a bit of rain, wind and very limited visibility.  It was quite unnerving to have to try and navigate two bridges and a floating desk with next to no visibility.  Only one minor mishap along the way so we are improving our skills.

Wednesday, weather permitting we are heading outside with a plan to get to Jekyll Island GA.  After that, another ocean jump to either Hilton Head or Beaufort SC.  We’ll see what happens.
